So today, it came to me that maybe it's time to start thinking about gardening again. I've thought for awhile now that because of the huge change in our lives, our income, and no garden plot anymore, that I would have to give it up until we were in a home again, not an apartment. Today, I believe I've decided that won't hold true. I'm going to do this. I'm going to grow some food Dammit! It's in my blood, it's in my heart, and it's in my thumb! (The green one) :)
So, I've changed the name of my Garden Blog, and I've been looking around on the internet at balcony gardening. I've also heard a rumor that they might be interested in a community garden here at the apartments, so I will find out about that too. The big task, the big challenge, is to do this with hardly any income. :) I can start saving plastic bottles, containers. I've already started saving egg cartons, for starting seedlings in. I need to find a good soil source, I'm hoping I won't have to buy ALL of my soil, if I can find a source around here somewhere.....
Next challenge is to find cheap or free bigger containers, for when the plants are growing big. Where to search. Frugal gardening. Hmmm...
I'm finding the info on this site helpful: Start a self sufficiency garden even in a cramped apartment
Now, to start collecting containers, soil, start making compost, and find my seeds at low cost. Did I mention this would be a bit of a challenge? Low cost, balcony gardening. I can do it. Sure I can. :)
